How we take care of your data
We know that trusting a new app with health data and the day-to-day of caregiving is not a small thing, even more so when that data is about a child, an elderly family member, or someone with special needs. So this page explains, without unnecessary technical jargon, how KinooCare protects the information you share with us.
Prefer to go straight to the technical detail? See the technical security page.
Each circle only sees its own data.
KinooCare is designed so that each care circle (your child, your family member, your dependant) is only visible to whoever is inside that circle, never outside it, even when the same person belongs to several circles at once. We test this isolation constantly, on purpose, with deliberate attempts to access data outside the right circle, to confirm the barrier holds.
Every change is recorded.
Every change made inside a circle (a new medication, an expense, a document) is recorded, along with who made it and when. The system is built so nothing can be deleted or altered without leaving that trace, so any member of the circle can always see the history of a piece of information, not just its current state.
Your password is never stored in a readable form.
We use a hashing algorithm built for passwords, which means that, even internally, nobody, not even our own team, can see the password you chose. Only the result of that hash is compared when you log in, never the password itself.
Every connection is encrypted.
All communication between your device and our servers goes through an encrypted connection (TLS), the same kind of protection you use when accessing your online banking. It applies every time, whether you're checking the calendar or filling in a health record.
KinooCare organises and shares care information between caregivers; it does not replace professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
What happens when you delete your account
You can delete your account at any time, directly in the KinooCare app. Once deletion is complete, your data is no longer accessible to the other members of your circles. See the full process at Delete account.

Our story
We didn't build KinooCare with a market in mind. We built it with a family in mind: ours.
A few years ago, a close family member was diagnosed with a serious neurodegenerative condition that brought increasingly demanding care needs. Almost overnight, several siblings had to organise themselves: care shifts, coordination with nurses, medication management, all of it alongside their own lives, jobs, and families.
There was no tool built for this. There were WhatsApp groups where the information that mattered got lost among everything else, spreadsheets nobody updated in time, and repeated phone calls just to figure out who had already done what. Coordination alone became one more burden at a time when the family was already exhausted.
It was in that context, at home, that the first skeleton of KinooCare was born: a simple tool, with no ambition beyond helping the siblings stay better aligned, rest more, and feel that coordinating care didn't depend on memory and goodwill alone.
Over time, we realised this wasn't a difficulty unique to us. It's shared by anyone caring for a child with special needs, an ageing parent, or anyone who depends on a network of caregivers coordinating with each other. That's how KinooCare stopped being a homemade tool and became something built for other families in the same position.
We didn't create KinooCare because we had all the answers about caring together. We created it because we didn't, and we felt, firsthand, the lack of something to help find them.
Some details in this story have been generalised to protect our family's privacy.
